A very common inquiry I get asked is "What exactly is reflexology?"
It is the practice of applying pressure to specific areas of the feet. When pressure is applied to a reflex point in the foot, it can affect the corresponding part of the body (i.e. gallbladder/shoulder/knee/sinuses), encouraging the body to heal and maintain its natural balance.
For all you like-minded medical terminology buffs, you will like Dr. Manzanares explanation the best - "“Reflexology can be defined as a reflex technique that is based on the neurobiochemical action produced by stimulating a specific area of the foot that results in a general or partial repercussion in the body. This is possible because of the somatotopic representation (mapping) of the human body on the foot, where every organ and parts of the body are reflected”. Jesus Manzanares, MD
